Happiness can be hard work and I think our tendency is to feel like it is supposed to just occur by reason of circumstances. But it takes a concerted effort to hang on to that elusive feeling called “happy”. And being able to rise above the grief, sorrow, and fears of living in this world takes being able to focus on the beautiful, miraculous, and simple joys of each day.
A child’s laughter, a dear pet, an amazing flower, a great book.
My heart goes out to those who are hurting from the loss of a loved one, a doctors report that they never dreamed of hearing, words said that can never be unsaid. We all carry our own pain deep within our hearts and minds and I don’t pretend to know the depth of another’s sorrow, but I do know there is a comforter. And with that truth I want you to know you are not alone, I am not alone, we are not alone.
I don’t make New Year’s resolutions but what I do is try and create New Routines. When my children were little I noticed one day that I was so tired and busy from the time I opened my eyes until I crashed again late at night and sometimes not even then, that I didn’t have time to make my own bed. So I made it a routine to make my bed first thing every morning as soon as I got up, now it has been years later and it is still the first thing I do..It may seem completely incomprehensible to someone else that it would be the one thing that was not getting done that made such a big difference for me, but it really did. Another one was again, when the kids were little and we would go out to eat and had sticker shock, at how much we spent on drinks ie..soda…new routine …drink only water with lemon when eating out. So with that in mind and feeling like an epic fail in the blog world, I am going to make a new routine here ..and that will be to post a new blog on Thursday with a Positive Word Focus for the Week. I hope to be a better blogger and happier person at the end of the year 🙂
Positive Word Focus for the Week Jan 1-7……
JOY (The feeling of great pleasure and happiness)
Meditate On: I Got the JOY, JOY, JOY Down in my Heart
Scripture: Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
I know that JOY is a Christmas word but I think I need more JOY in my life and maybe you do too.
